Workshop 3 - Thursday, June 28, 2012, 09:00/12:30
Visualization, optimization and performance

Chairmen : Alban SCHMUTZ et Jean‐Marie DAVESNES, OXALYA

Simulation and local data processing environments are slowly losing ground to centralized processing resources. Releasing visualization from its pre and post-processing cast has finally become evident. However, it can be easy to get confused between the different kinds of players settling on the market.

Now that budget optimization for conception and research environments has become a matter of economical survival, investing in a visualization solution has to be done in accordance with present and future company needs. Often associated with a more global change policy, graphic machines are now starting to fill centralized computing clusters to the expense of local stations. What advantage can we gain from this approach? How to associate cost optimization and processing performance?

During the 2011 Teratec Visualization Workshop we presented the interests of interactive simulation. Since then “Remote Display” solutions have known a great rise in terms of usages and functionalities. Are these software the only answer for a profitable and sustainable investment? How to secure one’s data and retain the intellectual property ownership while collaborating remotely? Do any of these solutions stand out?

Many fair and practical questions to which we bring answers, with the help of experts and through users feedback.
