MSC Software

MSC.Software is the CAE industry's original leader, growing from "the Nastran company" into a true market and technology leader for simulation software that includes linear and nonlinear finite element analysis (FEA), multi-body dynamics, control systems, and many other applications. Our products accurately and reliably predict how products will behave in the real world to help engineers design better, more innovative products - quickly and cost effectively. Using MSC products, companies are able to eliminate slow and costly physical testing by creating and testing "virtual prototypes" that can be quickly evaluated for performance in any environment or conditions to achieve lasting competitive advantage.

Our mission is to enable customers to "simulate more" by providing best-in-class CAE tools for virtual prototyping, enterprise scalable systems to manage the virtual "build and test" process and data, and Engineering Services to help deploy our solutions, train engineers to use them, and support them in their ongoing use of MSC products.

MSC.Software's products, services, and people are used by 900 of the top 1000 manufacturers in the world including:

MSC.Software Corporation was formed 47 years ago and was awarded the original contract from NASA to commercialize the finite element analysis (FEA) software known as Nastran (NASA Structural Analysis). MSC pioneered many of the technologies that are now relied upon by industry to analyze and predict stress and strain, vibration & dynamics, acoustics, and thermal analysis in our flagship product, MSC.Nastran.

Over our rich history, MSC has developed or acquired many other well known CAE applications including Patran, Adams, Marc, Dytran, SimDesigner, SimManager, EASY5, Sinda, and Fluid Connection. We are committed to the continuing development of new CAE tools and technology in these products as well as in new products including MD Nastran, MD Adams, and SimXpert, that integrate the technologies from standalone CAE tools into unified multi-discipline solvers and user environments. These "next generation" products enable engineers to improve the reliability and accuracy of their virtual prototypes by including multi-physics and multi-discipline interactions.

MSC is also the CAE industry's leader in extending simulation to the engineering enterprise. Our customers recognize the need to scale the benefits of virtual prototyping and testing from pockets of experts to mainstream engineering and product development, and MSC offers the only "simulation data management" (SDM) platform in the world that has been successfully deployed in industries including automotive, aerospace, shipbuilding, electronics, and more.

Headquartered in Santa Ana, California, MSC Software employs more than 1000 people in 23 countries.

MSC Software & HPC

MSC.Software, the historic leader in engineering analyses for the industrial environment has moved on from its former identity as Nastran to that of a critical partner for digital simulation, spanning the fields of finite element linear and non-linear analysis, multibody dynamic simulation, system controls and numerous other applications. Our solutions deliver precise, reliable predictions of the behaviour of complex systems before physical prototypes have to be brought in, helping engineers to design innovative products better and at less cost, while at the same time shortening development cycles.

MSC solutions enable our customers to radically reduce the number of costly physical tests by replacing them with virtual tests enabling rapid assessments of real-world product performance at an upstream development stage.

This ability to recreate the real world depends not only on having substantial computational power to support analyses of different types of physical phenomena on increasingly large models, but also on the capacity to loop through an increasing number of simulations in order to explore the stability of the solutions, given the uncertainty that surrounds physical models (manufacturing tolerances, noise and vibrations, etc.)

MSC Software & TERATEC

Joining forces with the association, MSC.Software wishes to focus its contribution on:

  • Assisting partners in their intensive calculations projects, supporting them with our simulations solutions, on both the software and methodological levels
  • Investing in the use of the infrastructure to step up its commitment to intensive calculations, at either software development (validation test) or pre-sales (benchmark, demonstration) level
  • Attracting new partners by contributing to creating and implementing projects
  • Extending its communication via the association’s infrastructure.
