Technologies and applications of the future
Chaired by Christian Saguez, co-founder and honorary president, Teratec

The digital technologies sector is experiencing extremely important technological and usage innovations. The objective of this workshop was to present some of these innovations and the new associated uses that will strongly impact our activities and structure the economy of tomorrow.

This workshop allowed us to:

• Review some of these important technologies that will be used in the digital sector
• Take stock of the impact of these technologies and the new uses that will result from them in major sectors
• To reflect on the implementation of major initiatives in these areas
  

Three major technological issues were addressed:

- Data storage and durability, which is one of the major current issues. In this context, the storage of megadata on DNA and more generally on polymer offers a major evolutionary possibility. The presentation of François Kepes (Academy of Technologies) allowed to make a precise point on this approach and the new possibilities it brings

- The virtualization of all objects and environments. With the development of digital twins in all sectors of activity and at all levels, a virtual world is developing in parallel with the real world. Rev Lebaredian (vice president of Omniverse and simulation technology, NVIDIA) presented the technological evolutions and the impacts of this evolution

- The modes of communication and the new uses which will appear are a fundamental stake. In this context, the implementation of 6G technologies is a major element that was presented both from a technological point of view and from the point of view of uses by Tobias Ley (Director of the AI pole, R&D Ericsson France)

Three major application sectors were presented in a second part.

- Materials and 4D printing. New materials represent a major challenge in all industrial sectors. 3D printing has already had a major impact on this sector. With the extension of this technology to intelligent materials, fundamental evolutions will appear. This was the subject of a presentation by Giancarlo Rizza (Laboratoire des Solides Irradiés (LSI), Institut Polytechnique de Paris (IPP), CEA/DRF/IRAMIS, CNRS)

- Health and new fabrics. Among the sectors impacted by the evolution of materials, the health sector is particularly important. Amélie Thépot (Co-founder and President, LabSkin Creations) presented the latest advances in bioprinting for the generation of tissues adapted to burn victims, but also to other health sectors

- Energy; The energy sector is one of the key sectors of the economy. The design of new types of production, their integration into distribution networks and technologies for savings are essential themes that were presented in detail by Jean Paul Chabard (Scientific Director, EDF R&D)

All these innovations will play a major role in the competitiveness of companies, our sovereignty, but also our lifestyles in the years to come. This workshop was an opportunity to discuss these major future themes and the actions to be taken to keep France and Europe at the top of these strategic sectors.
