HPC & Big Data – logiciels et outils

Energy modeling and optimization for HPC

Benoit PRADELLE
Chercheur, UVSQ

Abstract : Energy consumption recently became one of the major concerns in HPC. It is one of the research themes at UVSQ within the PerfCloud project and some tools are developed to help better understanding and optimizing energy consumption in data centers. The presentation will expose the recent achievements related to energy consumption. We will show how our tools can save energy in data centers thanks to CPU frequency scaling, how to determine the potential of DVFS with parallel programs, and the theoretical bases of the presented tools.
