Book this date in your diary! Come and meet the HPC community on July 1st and 2nd at the TERATEC Forum. Register now!

High performance digital design and simulation make a key contribution to innovation for all industry and service sectors. Using high performance simulation is a major opportunity for companies to improve their competitiveness by enabling them to decrease their costs and time-to-market and to increase the global quality of their products and their capacity for innovation. Today, these technologies are accessible also to SMEs, in particular thanks to “SaaS” offers.

With its plenary sessions, its program of technical and application workshops, its exhibition showcasing hardware, software and services, the 9th edition of the TERATEC Forum ambitions to illustrate the diversity of digital simulation and high performance computing usages, to grow the technological offer in many industry segments, and to develop their adoption in particular in SMEs.

On Tuesday, July 1st, the plenary sessions will underline the growing impact of high performance computing in many industry and research sectors, and its role in tackling scientific and technological challenges, with the participation of key figures from the political, economic and academic communities, of renowned international industry users, and of leading technology providers.

Key industry figures will present their testimony on the challenges of high performance simulation, technological providers and innovating SMEs will show their latest creations, international organisations will present their vision and achievements.

The programme will include in particular presentations by the upper management of AIRBUS, of the European platform ETP4HPC, of the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project, of the UberCloud HPC Experiment, of DISTENE, as well as a presentation of the French National Supercomputing Plan. We will be honoured by the presence of Mr Arnaud Montebourg, Minister of Economy, Industrial Renewal and Digital Development.

On Wednesday, July 2, the main market players and recognized experts will be involved in workshops whose aim is to take on emerging technologies and new areas of application of HPC. This year we propose four workshops technology oriented (HPC & Big data applications and solution architectures - Optimization of complex systems - Scientific Computing & Open Source - HPC & Big Data software components and tools ) and four workshops usage oriented (Material simulation - Digital technologies for plant - HPC and Healthcare - Simulating urban systems).

  • Complex Systems Numerical Design and Optimization : state-of-the-art and challenges
This workshop will highlight the major challenges for globally optimizing complex systems since the design early stages. The following challenges and the associated state-of-the art of existing methods for facing these challenges will be discussed : Models Validation and today’s high fidelity models maturity - « Routine simulation » with HPC technologies and other methods like models reduction - Multidisciplinary optimization algorithms - Numerical tools proposed by major ISVs.
  • Material simulation: new materials, usage, and durability
Because of the number of degrees of freedom required to describe them (quantum, atoms, molecules, surface area, impurities of all kinds), materials are heavy consumers of computing power. This is why adapting code to new-generation (exascale) machines is one challenge for the future .
  • Digital technologies for plant
The subject of this workshop is to present the issues and problems related to challenge and issues related to plant, tools and methods for simulation of plant growth and decision tools, processing technologies for imagery data and major applications: Seeds and food processing.

  • HPC and Healthcare: From therapeutic research to personalized medicine
The field of healthcare is no stranger to progress in modeling and computing technologies, although they are more common in other more industrial sectors of the economy. Thanks to the increased capacity of supercomputers, we are now able to model more physico-chemical and physiological phenomena, which will eventually allow us to provide increasingly personalized medical care.

  • Modeling and simulating urban systems
As a result, developing software tools for modeling and simulation, as well as for governing and managing urban systems, creates an opportunity to analyze, simulate, and optimize the way urban systems work as a whole and to enable city stakeholders (elected officials, residents, and companies) to make enlightened decisions.

During these two days, there will be an exhibition covering the whole HPC industry. Systems manufacturers and software vendors, integrators and distributors, service providers, academic and laboratory researchers, public and private sector developers will present their latest HPC innovations.
